ANZAC Day 2017

Proserpine ANZAC Day march

We commend the students of Proserpine State High School for their contribution to ensuring the ANZAC spirit continues strong into the future.

ANZAC Day formalities began on Monday with the laying of wreaths at our school cenotaph followed by our whole of school ANZAC DAY ceremony. Our School Vice Captain, Malachi Lane led our school as Master of Ceremonies, while School Captain Bree Jolley delivered a moving key note address on behalf of the school. The inclusion of the Proserpine State High School choir in the ceremony accompanied by the Instrumental Music Band, delivered a beautiful rendition of “Abide with Me”, “Amazing Grace” and “Recessional Hymn”. The National Anthems were beautifully sung by School Choir (Australian) and Ms Cathy Pukallus, Choir Mistress (New Zealand) and Mr Idris Harries, Instrumental Music Conductor played the “Last Post” and “The Rouse”.

Impeccable behaviour and respect was shown by all our students in the audience, which was commented upon by our special guests. We were privileged to have in attendance Mr Jason Costigan, MP, Mr John Collins, Ms Jan Phillips, Mrs Liz Balma, Mr John Balma, Reverend Jenny Potter and Mr Dean Connolly.

Our Navy and Air Force cadets proudly displayed their skills and pride at both ceremonies. Their cadet officers would be extremely proud of these young people.

We would like to thank all the students and staff who represented the school, attending the services and marches in Airlie Beach and Proserpine on ANZAC Day. It was wonderful to see so many of our students in their uniform attending these community services.
