Congratulations to Year 11 student Sam Rogers, who won the state-level Queensland Schools Science Competition in engineering. Sam represented Queensland in the Australian competition over the summer break. He was judged on his project of an AI-powered electronic waste sorting robot arm. After four days of competition and interacting with professors and technology at the forefront of science, Sam was selected as one of only two engineering entries to represent Australia at the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) held in the United States. Due to COVID restrictions, team Australia is competing virtually among in-person finalists from over 80 countries for the $5 million in prizes.
