2024
Mia Vloedmans won the Lions Youth of the Year Public Speaking and Overall Winner awards at the Proserpine Club Competition, and also won the Public Speaking Award at the Zone Competition in Collinsville Our Year 12 student Hurley Diessel was also named the winner for the Public Speaking division at the club competition.
Reid Ogden once again selected as one of 16 students from Queensland to be a member on the Ministerial Student Advisory Council. Working with the Minister of Education and Educational leaders throughout the year, to discuss issues of significance to Queensland school students and represent students from regional areas.
2023
Sam Rogers awarded the Peter Doherty Outstanding Senior STEM Student Award for Excellence in STEM Education.
Scarlett Foti won Public Speaking and Overall Winner awards at the Club and Zone Lions Youth of the Year Competitions, also competing at the Townsville District Final.
Reid Ogden selected as one of 16 students from Queensland to be a member on the Ministerial Student Advisory Council. Sam Rogers attended the National Computer Science School at the University of Melbourne. At the closing ceremony Sam received the award for ‘Outstanding combination of technical, teamwork, and
leadership skills’, as well as a full scholarship for the program.
Sam Rogers travelled to Washington, America, to be a guest speaker at the Annual World Conference for the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence.
Sam Rogers was a keynote speaker at CSIRO's National Artificial Intelligence Centre in Sydney.
Makaela Stefani and Sam Rogers chosen to attend the 2023 National Youth Science Forum.
Makaela Stefani and Macy Werner selected in to the University of QLD's Science Ambassador Program.
Macy Werner and Archer Philipson were accepted into and attended an Engineering Camp hosted by JCU.
Macy Werner chosen to participate in the 2023 STEM Girl Power Camp in Brisbane.
2022
Mac Rogers won Club and Zone Lions Youth of the Year Competitions, as well as the Public Speaking Award at the Townsville District Final.
Sam
Rogers competed in the BHP Foundation Science and Engineering Awards with his Electronic Waste Sorting Robotic Arm. He won the Engineering section of these awards and was selected to represent Australia in the International Science and Engineering Fair, (ISEF). This was a hybrid competition, with many countries attending in person, in Atlanta, Georgia and others, including Australia, participating virtually. ISEF is a showcase of the best youth projects from around the world, in 21 Science Categories. Sam was awarded third place for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (from the entire group of 1800 entries) and second place in his category of Environmental Engineering.
