Student leadership at Proserpine State High School has developed rapidly over past years, to a position where we now have an extensive range of opportunities for students to be involved in leading our school community. The leadership committee structure delivers greater opportunity for students within our school to become involved in key leadership initiatives and grow their leadership potential and this work often branches out beyond the school gates assisting community groups.

Proserpine State High School leadership structure consists of our School Captains, Indigenous Student Leader, Senior Student Council Executives, Junior School Council Executives, House Captains, Band Leaders and several active Leadership Committees. Together the captains and senior leaders work with the student body to achieve student-inspired goals and uphold the school’s values, beliefs and priorities. School leaders are advocates for the diversity amongst our school community and strive to allow everyone’s ability to be harnessed in an inclusive educational setting. We encourage our leaders to leave a legacy at Proserpine State High School that will grow and future leaders can continue to develop.
Student leadership has been highlighted as a key element within our Junior Secondary school.  Research shows that young adolescents benefit greatly from involvement in activities that develop their leadership skills, building confidence, a sense belonging and self-esteem. Our Junior Secondary Executive Team represent strongly the students from Years 7 to Year 9, giving them a true sense of identity and ownership within our whole school context.
At Proserpine State High School, we believe in enhancing the leadership skills of all our students through programs that develop individual responsibility, promote independence, and promotes the growth of responsible citizens. Local spirit is strong within our school and we pride ourselves on preparing students to become active community members and to lead the next generation of youth in the Whitsunday Region.
“Leadership is any action that makes our school a better place” – Principal, Don McDermid
