Our student leaders started Wednesday 24th of April leading our ANZAC Day wreath laying ceremony at our school cenotaph in front of our Administration Building. We commemorated the Spirit of the ANZACs with our distinguished guests including Whitsunday Air Force and Army Cadets from the 110 Squadron and members of the Proserpine RSL and emergency services.
Our students and guests then joined our whole school for a moving ANZAC Day service led by our
School Vice-Captain Nathan Richards. Our School Captain Alice Pini delivered a heart-felt keynote address about the work of local priest Fr Tom Gard on the frontline.
We were honoured to hear from our special guest speaker Mrs Diane Jackson who shared her story of hope and determination working for the Royal Australian Air Force both in Australia and overseas. Mrs Jackson went on to further inspire our students with her story of resilience in training at the Australian Institute of Sports to hopefully compete in the Warrior Games in Orlando, Florida later this year and then hopefully in the Invictus Games in Canada in February next year.
We extend our gratitude to all of our distinguished guests who joined us in making this year's ceremonies so memorable.
Well done to all of our students who marched and laid wreaths on behalf of our school at ANZAC Day services across our region from Bloomsbury to Cannonvale, Airlie Beach and Proserpine dawn and day services. We joined our greater Whitsunday community to remember those who have served and are currently serving so that we are able to uphold the values and freedoms we are fortunate to enjoy today.
We will remember them. Lest We Forget.
