Congratulations to our Proserpine State High School Volleyball Teams who competed at the Australian Schools Cup on the Gold Coast in December last year.
Our Year 11 Boys Division 1 finished at the top of their pool, placing them fifth overall out of 20 teams.
Our Year 11 Girls Division 1 team topped their pool winning the semi-final, however going down in a close final finishing second out of 12 teams.
This was a remarkable effort from our PSHS Girls as 6 out of 8 players were from Year 9 playing up a level at the competition.
This was our school's third time competing at The Australian Schools Cup, with Boys Coach Mr Ben Smith saying students worked hard and had a good culture within the team.
Proserpine State High School Principal Mr Don McDermid said that it was a great achievement for our regional school competing with the best from across the state.
“I pay recognition to the school coaches for the dedication and commitment to the program, developing our student's skill and confidence to excel.
After The Australian Schools Cup, Year 11 student Giselle Tronc and Year 9 student Lillian Kelly attended the National Development Camp in Toowoomba.
With the 2024 school year about to begin, Mr Smith said students will be preparing for the North Queensland Volleyball Trials along with the Australian Youth Beach Volleyball Championships in Coolangatta in March and Queensland Schools Cup later in the year.
We wish them the very best of luck!
